Embracing the one-time payment model
We are excited to announce that Expressive will transition from a subscription-based to a one-time payment model. This transition will provide users with a lifetime license and free updates, making the adoption of our products more cost-effective and more appealing to a broader audience.
TL;DR
When we first adopted the subscription model, it seemed like a natural fit for Expressive Animator and other products we planned to launch. Subscriptions often provide a steady revenue stream and allow for continuous development and support. However, as we engaged with our users over time, we realized their preferences were not aligned with our business model. Many desired a more straightforward purchasing approach that eliminates the ongoing financial commitment inherent in subscriptions.
We started gathering feedback through social media, email, and one-on-one calls, and the insights we received were clear: our users wanted a solution that offered them ownership without the pressure of recurring fees. This feedback became the catalyst for our re-evaluation of the business model.
Transitioning to the new model
This transformation isn't just about changing our pricing strategy but redefining our relationship with users. By shifting to this model, we can now offer our customers a lifetime license, allowing them to benefit from our software's powerful features without the constraints of subscription payments.
Migrating ongoing subscriptions
We decided to cancel all active subscriptions and provide a free license key for all those who were subscribed to our annual plan.
In addition to those with annual plans, extraordinary people have been with us from day one or have had monthly subscriptions for many months. Nobody is left behind, so you will get a free license key if you have a three-month or longer subscription.
Trial reset
Another thing we've decided is to reset all trial periods for our users! This means that anyone who previously held a trial can now start fresh and experience the full capabilities of our software once again. We understand that many users may not have had the chance to explore everything we offer, and this is a fantastic opportunity to dive back in and try our software.
Discontinuing the web version
As part of our transition, we chose to discontinue the web version of Expressive Animator and focus our resources and attention on further improving and developing the downloadable desktop version of the motion design software.
Looking to the future
As we look ahead, transitioning to a one-time payment model is just the beginning of a new chapter for Expressive. We are thrilled to offer our users greater flexibility and ownership, and we can't wait to see where this new path takes us.
