Pen and touch screen support
You can now use pen and touch input devices directly in Expressive Animator! Drawing, selecting, and transforming elements feels more intuitive, whether you're using a graphics tablet or touchscreen display.
Containers like Layers, Timeline, and font picker can now be scrolled using a two-finger gesture on touch-based devices.
Adjustable control handle sizes
We've added new options to adjust the size of control handles. This makes touch-based editing easier and ensures better precision when working with high-resolution screens. To change the control handle size, open the Application menu and select Settings
then Handle size
.
Auto-scroll on drag
When dragging layers or elements int the timeline, the view will now auto-scroll to follow your movement. Managing complex animations is now far more fluid and frustration-free.
Improved Selection tool
The Selection tool has been redesigned and improved, providing smoother rotation control and clearer visual feedback.
Smarter SVG export
When filters are not animated, Expressive Animator now exports them as SVG primitives. This improves compatibility and maintains visual fidelity for static effects.
GIF images import
This version brings support for importing GIF images. If the image is animated, only the first frame will be rendered in the editor. When exporting your animations as SVG, make sure to select Original
for the Image format
option if you want to preserve the animation of embedded GIF images.
Timeline navigation shortcuts
Quickly jump between keyframes with the new timeline shortcuts:
- Use
ArrowLeft
andArrowRight
to move to the previous or next keyframe relative to the current time. - Hold
Shift
to limit the jump to selected objects only.
These shortcuts make fine-tuning your animation timing much faster and more efficient.
QoL improvments
There are also a handful of quality-of-life improvements that this version brings:
- Only one instance of a project can be opened
- Export progress indicator in taskbar (Windows only)
- Added a bullet indicator in front of the title if you have unsaved changes to your project. On macOS, this is handled natively, and there is also a bullet on the close button and in the
Window
dropdown menu

With this update all Expressive Animator trials have been reset. If you've tried the software before, you can now start a brand-new trial period and experience all the latest improvements.
