In the last few months, we have put a lot of work into the new Expressive Animator release, and today, we are excited to share it with the world. This is by far the most complete and advanced SVG animation editor we have ever released, and we're sure you will love using it.

Desktop apps

Having a downloadable version of Expressive Animator that can harvest the full power of native desktop apps is something we have been planning for a long time, and we're happy that it finally happened.

Only macOS and Windows are currently supported, but Linux support will come soon. Until then, Linux users can rely on our extraordinary progressive web application and run Expressive Animator in a Chromium-based browser.

CSS and SMIL animations

In the past, to support advanced features like morph or elastic/bounce easing, we relied on JavaScript to animate our exported SVGs. This raised some valid security concerns from our users, as their customers were reluctant to embed JavaScript-powered SVG animation into their websites.

With the new release, this is no longer the case, as we provide full support for CSS and SMIL-based SVG animations. The best thing is that all the advanced features can now be exported as CSS or SMIL. What this means is that your customers no longer have to worry about the security of their websites, and you can finally focus on what you do best: awesome SVG animations.

Lottie exports

Lottie is a very popular animation format, mainly because of Adobe After Effects and its bodymovin plugin.

Starting with this release, you can use Expressive Animator to export both SVG and Lottie animations, saving time and energy by creating once and exporting in different formats that meet your customers' needs.

Shape to motion path

Moving an object along a custom path is now easier than ever: copy a shape as motion path keyframes and paste those keyframes to the object you want to move.

Grid

Besides the already existing automatic grid, we have introduced three new types of grid: fixed grid, pixel grid, and isometric grid. You also have the option to change the color of the grid for a better contrast with your composition.
